Tesla Cybertruck Receives 146,000 Pre-Orders
Elon Musk has stated that this achievement is without any paid ads or endorsement.
Just within two days of its big unveiling, Tesla Cybertruck is already gaining a lot of interest. Tesla has received 146,000 preorders for the polarizing electric pickup truck, Elon Musk tweeted on Saturday. And with customers shelling a $100 refundable deposits for each preorder, that’s a pretty cool $14.6 million for Tesla’s bank account.

No Advertising or Paid Endorsement for Tesla Cybertruck
This, Musk said, is with no advertising and no paid endorsement. This is already an achievement that branding can give in today’s market. The pre-ordered Cybertruck will take some time for delivery. Production on the single and dual motor versions isn’t slated to begin until late 2021, while the tri motor truck won’t roll off the assembly line until late 2022.

Tesla uses preordering model for its forthcoming (electric) vehicles to build excitement and provide a short-term revenue infusion. This helps provide a short term solution for the cash-strapped automaker. And Musk likes to tout preorder numbers to juice more sales. For instance, the company received 276,000 preorders for the Model 3 a few days after its unveiling in 2016; a few days later that number grew to 325,000.
In another news, Elon Musk confirmed that Tesla’s new Cybertruck electric pickup truck will be offered with a solar roof option over the truck’s bed that will be able to add 15 miles of range per day.
