Apple’s “By Innovation Only” Event, What can we expect from it?

By  |

An exciting event is going to happen in Steve Jobs Theater, California at 10 AM Pacific on September 10, 2019. We are expecting new iPhones and an Apple Watch of some kind. As the event is going to happen in a couple of days, let’s have a look at the features of the new iPhone and the Apple Watch. Can we expect on-time delivery of one more thing? Major details and release-schedule are already revealed by Apple. Therefore, no more surprises are expected.

There will be three new iPhones - for sure

Bloomberg reported that there will be direct successors to each of the 2018 phones - iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR. The prominent upgrade this year is about cameras. Improved optical zoom, low-light photography and the ability to take pictures with a much wider angle. There will be an introduction of different camera array to the devices alongside the logo change. Pro models are going to have three cameras and the cheaper models are expected with dual cameras. Apple will introduce OLED Display in all three models for the first time.

The shortcomings in the 3D display are going to alter in the new iPhone which is expected to be replaced by a newly developed Taptic engine called “Leap Haptics”. With a flop show of airpower wireless charging, Apple is going to imitate Samsung by introducing the bilateral charging which will charge different gadgets as well.

Qualcomm’s current 5G modems are not ready for iPhone primetime, so ultimately Apple wants to make its modems to feature in the 2020 models. Therefore, we cannot expect 5G Apple phones this year.

Apple Watch Series 5 - or something

The plan of Apple for this year watches is not yet clear, but one thing is obvious that Apple is going to launch watchOS 6. Images released by Apple revealed that it will bring hardware changes like the Watch will be offered in titanium and ceramic. It is also expected that Apple may not release the Apple Watch Series 5 , but add these material options to the Apple Watch Series 4 instead.

iOS 13, macOS Catalina, watchOS 6 - all the Operating Systems

The launch of many Operating Systems will be announced in the September 10th event. Historically, within a week of the event, the iOS and WatchOS updates are out for the public, with macOS following only a few days later. Apple will bring a Mojave-like dark mode to the iOS 13 and power-user feature in the iPadOS for Apple’s tablets. Catalina will make some big changes in the operating system which will enable MacOS to run the apps. The WatchOS 6 will bring menstrual cycle tracking, on-Watch App store, and activity trends for following fitness outcomes.

Maybe: Apple TV 4K

The release of Apple 4K TV streaming media box for home theater is expected, this rumor broke out last Wednesday. The updated version would have A12 or A12X CPU. Talking about games, Apple needs to replace the current remote because of the limitations of Apple TV remote to the complexity of the games and proven unpopular among users. However, Apple TV 4K does support traditional wireless gaming controller from a third party like SteelSeries, but having no optical gaming controller in the box is the reason Apple TV never considered as a gaming device. Lastly, the improvement in the performance of Apple TV 4K isn’t much needed and expected.
